In what can be considered TikTok’s apex, legendary documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux has been subtly dominating the platform with remixes and dancing videos centered around an attempt at rap he made in a 2000 episode of his Weird Weekends series.

Theroux visited New Orleans to speak with musicians involved in the emerging rap culture. While there, he also took part in a rap fight and produced the song My Money Don’t Jiggle Jiggle, It Folds. In 2022, creative TikTok users have remixed, remashed, re-rapped, and even asked their grandmothers to try their hand at the now-famous lyrics.

What better way to make a joke funnier than to broadcast variations of it nonstop for weeks on social media? Theroux’s distinctly proper English accent made a funny counterpoint for the gangster lyrics.

My Money Don’t Jiggle Jiggle Lyrics:

My money don’t jiggle, jiggle, it folds
I’d like to see you wiggle, wiggle, for sure
It makes me wanna dribble, dribble, you know
Riding in my Fiat
You really have to see it

Six feet two in a compact
No slack but luckily the seats go back
I’ve got a knack to relax, in my mind
Sipping some red, red wine

Shepherd’s Bush
My compact push
Notting Hill Gate
My Fiat skates

With a crate of Cabernet
But not today
Because I gotta drive
I wanna stay alive

Not ’cause it’s illicit
Do I have to get explicit?
As a matter of fact
I sip on the ‘gnac

With Big and Reece
200 diamonds in their piece
I’m trying to get mine
So I can shine

Jiggle, jiggle
I like to see you, wiggle, wiggle
Jiggle, jiggle
I like to see you, wiggle, wiggle

My money don’t jiggle, jiggle, it folds
I’d like to see you wiggle, wiggle, for sure
It makes me wanna dribble, dribble, you know
Riding in my Fiat
You really have to see it

Six feet two in a compact
No slack but luckily the seats go back
I’ve got a knack to relax, in my mind
Sipping some red, red wine

Think that went really well, don’t you?
I enjoyed it, nice being in the booth
So unless you have anything else, that’s a wrap
(Jiggle, jiggle)
(I like to see you, wiggle, wiggle)
(Jiggle, jiggle)
(I like to see you, wiggle, wiggle)

Jiggle, jiggle

And here is Jimmy Fallon with Shakira (looking fabulous btw) having fun with the song:

He’s kind of catchy, in my opinion, but he’s no Eminem or 50 Cent. First, the world in which we live is different. Maybe 5 persons were aware of this song when it was written by him in 2000. Now? On Tik Tok, the song has gone viral all across the world. Instantaneous global communication has enormous effects that are only now beginning.

About the Video

Journalist and documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux’s 2022 single, “Jiggle Jiggle,” was created by Manchester-based DJ duo Duke & Jones (Isaac McKelvey and Luke Conibear). Theroux had been active in the rap fad, and the song included a clip of him rapping on the “Gangsta Rap” episode of Weird Weekends.

Jiggle Jiggle Background

Louis Theroux attempted his hand at rapping in 2000 while filming the series 3 finale of Weird Weekends, with the help of rappers on the local New Orleans radio station WQUE-FM. The song “Red Red Wine,” which Neil Diamond originally composed and sang, is interpolated into the rap.Theroux reprised some of his rapping from the program in 2022 during an interview for the video series Chicken Shop Date with YouTuber Amelia Dimoldenberg.

On March 16, 2022, Manchester-based Duke & Jones, who had previously made several autotune remixes to unrelated audio snippets on TikTok, produced an autotuned version of the interview. The video immediately gained popularity on TikTok and other social media sites, amassing 50 million views as of May 14th. Theroux was later seen rapping more, and the BBC referred to him as “a major hip-hop head” as a result.

The song’s autotuned rendition of the line “My money don’t jiggle jiggle, it folds” has become popular among TikTok users.

As of May 17, 2022, 2.6 million TikTok videos had used the song.
